Because CONTENTdm is delivered as Software-as-a-Service, the Project Client is essentially a secure staging area: objects are queued locally, checksums are verified, and then everything is encrypted and streamed to OCLC’s AWS stack, where full-text is extracted, geotags are plotted and searchable transcripts are generated automatically. The same tool can re-ingest updated master files years later without duplicating identifiers, making it equally useful for ongoing born-digital acquisitions.
